“Academia, without education, outreach and communication, is a total waste of time.”

Public Talks

Being a scientist, I love sharing our discoveries with the world. I take great joy in giving public talks for that reason, particularly on topics of astronomy and astrophysics. Being able to see the world through the cosmic perspective is both humbling and inspiring and that is the perspective I wish to empower everyone with.

I am a two-time Three Minute Thesis, i.e., 3MTĀ®, competition finalist at the University of Victoria, and have been an invited speaker on public events, such as those hosted by Pint of Science and Nerd Nite. Feel free to contact me if you are looking for a speaker to speak on astronomy/astrophysics!

Twitter

A large fraction of my science communication is done through Twitter. If you want to learn about the latest science that fascinates me or hear about my life as an astronomer, follow me! You can find selected samples of my tweets here.

Promotion I made for the Ask an Astronomer event featuring astronomers from Victoria, BC.

I also initiated the “Ask an Astronomer” event on Twitter for Victoria, BC as a part of the annual Astronomy Day celebration.

Other involvements

I am currently a member of the Education and Public Outreach (EPO) and Sustainability Committee for the Canadian Astronomical Society (CASCA).
